Plein Air Field Work

Painting outdoors taught me a lot. I learned to simplify the overload of information and build on an underlying abstract composition. The plein air painter must balance the competing color values in such a way that the painting holds together, bearing in mind that a  finished painting must engage the viewer. How do we make it painterly? One step at a time.
